Indian Navy fighter pilot Commander Nishant Singh, who didn’t survive the Mig-29K crash on November 26,2020, was laid to rest with full military honors in Goa on Friday. His wife, Nayaab Randhawa, received the Tricolour and her husband’s uniform from the commandant of the squadron.
The son of a military officer , Commander Nishant was a professional Flying Instructor adept on Kiran, Hawk, and Mig-29K fighter . He was the Indian Navy’s one among the foremost accomplished aviators and had received advanced strike training with the United States Navy . The officer was also a professional mountaineer also as a talented yachtsman.
On December 7,2020 , his body was found nearly 30 miles off the coast of Goa on the ocean bed 70 metres below water after an in depth mission , . The mortal remains were recovered within the vicinity of the wreckage site.
The MiG-29K jet was crashed while flying over the Arabian Sea . The Russian-origin fighter jet took off from Indian aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya and went down at around 5 pm on November 26,2020. The INS Vikramaditya was a part of the recent Malabar naval exercise involving the navies of India, the US, Australia and Japan.
After the crash One pilot was rescued but there was sign of Commander Nishant Singh.
“All parts of the aircraft wreckage including ejection seats are accounted for using side-scan sonar and HD cameras. The flight data recorder/cockpit voice recorder along side other important material has been recovered thus far for analysis/investigation,” the Indian Navy had said during a statement.
